Caregiving (CNA)

Level: Short Course
Duration: 1 terms

Unit Overview

The Caregiver Course Level 3 is designed for learners who want to begin working in basic care roles, either at home or in support settings. It focuses on providing day-to-day assistance to individuals who need help due to age, illness, disability, or recovery from medical conditions.

In Kenya today, many families rely on caregivers to support elderly relatives, patients discharged from hospital, or individuals who need constant supervision at home. This course prepares you to take on that responsibility in a professional and respectful way.

At St. Mary’s, training is practical and focused on real-life situations. You learn how to assist with daily living activities such as hygiene, feeding, mobility, and emotional support. You also learn how to observe changes in a client’s condition and respond appropriately by reporting or escalating concerns.

The program follows the TVET CDACC competency-based approach, meaning you are trained and assessed based on what you can actually do in real care situations. By the end of the course, you should be able to confidently support individuals in a safe and caring manner under supervision.
